Foodbox consists of three parts. Firstly, there is a mobile phone holder that has an NFC tag. This tag connects the phone to the box and serves as the user interface for the food box app. This app verifies donors and recipients. Secondly, there is a scanning compartment. This compartment uses Artificial intelligence to recognize donated food and records it in the app. Finally, there are doors that open to allow donors to place their donations in a chilled or unchilled compartment for recipients to take.
Each donor and recipient each have their own seperate app for accessing the food box. Both apps allow users to view the food box's location and content, as well as search for nearby locations or desired food items. The donation and collection process is initiated through the app.
